Grape American Roadtrip with Vino50 at the Green Pig

Once again Flag Day and Father's Day are almost upon us, and it's time again for us all to ask, "What is Flag Day?" and "What the hell do I do with my dad on Father's Day?"
Well this year at Green Pig Bistro it will be a celebration of the diversity of America's wine producing regions. Come celebrate the "Grape American Roadtrip" as we're joined by our friends from Vino 50. We'll be featuring a tasting lineup of All-American estate-grown wines from around the country, including: a sparkling pineapple wine from Hawaii; a pinot grigio from Michigan's Old Mission Peninsula; a chardonnay with grapes grown in NY State and produced/bottled in Brooklyn; a cabernet from Southern Arizona; a "Bordeaux" blend from the Washington State-Canada border; and a Willamette Valley pinot noir produced under pristine conditions.
Andrew Stover of Vino 50 and Beth Wolfe of Siema Wines will be on hand to pour these fantastic wines and help introduce you to the oenological backyard that you never knew you had.
TWO Dates: June 14th OR June 17th in the bar area
Time: 5:30-9
Cost: $22 (advance), $26 (day of) for a tasting pour of each of the 6 wines plus treats!
(Full Green Pig Bistro dinner and beverage menu will be available)

It's Almost June!

Tasting Notes: Tasting the Regions of Italy

Welcome to the first Tasting Notes event! If people enjoy this event it will become a bi-monthly tradition.
We will be going to Dino's in Cleveland Park to taste, learn and enjoy some quintessential Italian wines. I will be giving those who RSVP a few (very short) articles on Italian wine that will outline the wines we will be tasting, giving those a background in the beautiful and complex Italian terrior.
TOTAL COST: $25 for 5 wine tastings, crostini tax and tip. Payment for this event will be collected in advance.

Spring can only mean one thing...Rose sippin' and rooftop drinkin' If you were lucky enough to be a part of last year's event, you know this year will not disappoint.
Join us on Thursday, May 17 at 6pm at 555 Mass Ave rooftop. This is an event solely sponsored by us which means everyone needs to bring a bottle to share. Last year, it was not a problem to go through about 20 bottles of rose :)

Organic Wine Tasting for Earth Day

Ripple, Cleveland Park, DC
This Earth Day visit us at Ripple in Cleveland Park to taste some of their organic/bio dynamic wines. The tasting will be led by their sommelier who will discuss the organic wine industry. After the tasting, those wines will be offered at a discounted price to enjoy by the glass!
